Helen Bickerstaffe

Helen qualified in 2003 after studying at the University of Manchester and completing her nurse training at the Christie Hospital and University Hospital of South Manchester. Prior to becoming a Practice Nurse Helen worked as a District Nurse in the Oldham borough.

Helen's main role within the Practice is to monitor the health of patients with chronic diseases. Her other duties include health screening, health promotion, vaccinations and child health. Helen is the Immunisation Lead and the Infection Prevention and Control Lead for the practice. Additionally she is the End of Life Care Coordinator and the Dementia Champion within the practice. Helen is also responsible for ensuring that clinical targets are met and for the delivery of local enhanced services and public health campaigns.

Helen is keen to address health inequalities and is actively involved in promoting the health and well being of disadvantaged individuals.

Healthcare Assistants

Miss Siobhan Carr (f)
Healthcare assistants support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood), blood pressure measurement and new patient checks. They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one.
